For older Macintosh Users
« on: Jan 13 07 »

Just a note that I have done some testing.

Some of the new screens require browsers that can handle JS well.

On Mac OS 9/Classic I can use the following browsers:  Mozilla/Wamcom 1.3.1, Mozilla 1.2.1, Netscape 7.02, iCab 3.03 (beta).

Not working, and likely won't ever under present conditions:  IE 5.1.7 and below, iCab 2.99 (release) and below.

Not tested:  Opera 6.03.

For Admin... on older Mac systems the JS engines were simply not there.  When you try to get nav bar code for a site you can use the pop up selector to choose the ring but after selecting, nothing happens and no window appears below with the nav bar code.

Don't know if this will be helpful but there are some older Mac users like myself out there.  I also have Win2K and WinXP, FWIW.

The site makes quite a bit of use of jvascript, and it's required for some screens and functions.

This isn't something we can work around very easily. We use some AJAX JS functions to provide some of the core functionality in select screens (nav code, etc) and it's very unlikely that we'll be able to go back and re-write these modules anytime soon (if ever). I know this may be an issue for older browsers, but older browsers will fail on a lot of recent sites or sites that use any AJAX functions.
