- Ring code is working now,
- The "Join Ring" function is working
- "Accept/Deny Site" function is working
- Email alerts are sent to you when someone applies to join your ring and sent to them when you accept or decline them.
- Ring code for each site can now be found in your Sites Listing page.
- You can now edit site and ring information to your heart's content.
- Lots of other stuff too numerous to mention is now working.
- If you have sites pending you'll go to the Management page when you log in.
- "Delete Site" code is now in place and working.
- Ring owners can now remove a user's site from their ring.
- Ring owners may now edit the information for the sites in their ring(s). PLEASE don't so this unless it's absolutely necessary. Note that an email message is sent to the site owner each time you edit one of their rings.
- A Beta version of "Ring Rating" has been added. All rings will start off with a rating of '3.0'. If this all seems to work properly then Site Rating will be added.
Coming Soon: Ring and Site statistics (being worked on over the next day or so). Ring and Site owners will have access to a page listing hits sent to each of their rings and sites on a site-by-site and ring-by-ring basis. We also expect to provide some cumulative statistic as well.
NOTE:
If you find you see a count of more sites in a ring than actually exist in one of your ring's "sites list", please let us know. There appear to be a couple of "orphan" sites (that don't really exist) that may nonetheless show up in the
count of sites but that don't show up in your sites
list. In other words, your ring's page says you have two rings (for example) and one ring shows "5 sites", but when you click on the "5 sites" link, only 4 sites are listed. That's what we're talking about.
Confusing, huh? Yeah, we know, our heads are about to e'splode, lol.
We're still working on the nav bar checker code but that'll be done soon. We'll also be adding more categories as time permits. The code to remove a user's site from a ring you own is also coming.
Older Notes:
1) We were able to transfer
all of the existing rings and sites, so no one will have to rebuild anything. This is what took so *&#%^! long, but it was worth it.
2) There were some people who made multiple logins for multiple rings.
You don't have to do that here, you can own multiple rings and sites under a single user ID. Unlike other sites, that's allowed here, no problem, so
please don't go making a bazillion user IDs, okay? There's no need to do that.

Those of you who did this will find that all of your rings were merged to a single, common user ID. If you don't know which one we picked, send us a Private Message here and we'll figure out which one it is.
3) Your password will remain the same from the old system to the new system, although we
do recommend you change it. You don't have to if you don't want to but it might be a good idea.
4) If you lost your password, just go to the login form and request it be sent to you. It'll go to whatever email address was on file in the old system.
5) Ring Categories- we'll take our best shot at manually assigning them. If we get it wrong, send us a Private Message here and tell us the
name of the ring and
what category it should be in. (We'll post a list of all the categories so you can see what's available.)
6) We will be shutting down the webring portion of the site in a day or so to transfer all the files, setup all the new stuff, etc. Don't worry. The forum will remain up so if you have any problems, find any bad links or sharp edges, etc etc,
post a message here. We'll fix everything as quickly as we can. Periods and spaces are okay in usernames, but no other punctuation.
7) Usernames: Some usernames had to be altered slightly- if your username was something like
Joe "Dood" Smith, we had to remove the quotes and anything between them. We can't allow quote marks in the user name. The username above would be changed to just
Joe Smith, for example.
8) Finally, the
hopelessly-in-love dev guy went to Cambodia, met his fiance, got engaged, and had a hell of a time. His travel log can be found
here.
