Hey Admin, might I suggest that you promote Webringo on the World of Webrings forum, here: http://webringworld.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=3 They have a board specifically for the promotion of ringlink systems.

On a related note, survey for the board -- how are you all going about promoting your individual rings? Since Webring is censoring the forum traffic, I've personally taken to sending out mass e-mails to each of my rings giving a link to here, WoW, Ringlink and Ringsurf (even though I'm not sure that the past few years have been very kind to Ringsurf, at least it's not Webring).

I've started to duplicate some of my rings over here and at WoW, but even after sending out mass e-mails to the original rings announcing the new one, have only gotten one or two submissions per ring. Once I get my act more together though, I'm going to start browsing existing Webring rings on the same topics and individually inviting the sites.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look at that. I may hold off for a bit, though; we have a lot of stuff in the works and we want the site running well before we do any large-scale promotion of it.

I think things here will pick up slowly but surely. It's kind of a positive-feedback thing- the more people join the more visibility it gets and the more rings will be made. That means more people joining, more rings being made, and so on.

Sitewise, we're doing practically a whole re-write of the underlying code so it'll take a little  more time and effort than we'd originally anticipated but it'll also be well worth it. Once things begin to scale up it'll make a huge difference. The small but fiesty team of Webringo maniacs are in this for the long haul- we're not looking 6 months ahead, we're thinking 1, 2, and 5 years out and trying to build in a lot of good stuff that will matter in the long run. (The basic webring code will be ready much sooner than that, but we want to make sure we don't end up with a slow, doggy site that takes forever to search or use.) And I think more and more people will drop out of Webring and look for alternatives as time goes by. With the new Webring policies it's hard to see any other outcome, frankly.

Have you tried Google?
I have wonderful success with that, seeking the subject of my webrings!
The subject followed by "webring" seems to be producing many, too! The webring.com seems to the most, but the alt-webring and other servers seem to be represented also...
I log the "seek" and the "log of the extent" if you want to repeat the seek again without repeating - a tenth seek will be productive, a twentieth even more!

I have tried the world of webrings, but I have little sucess!
I prefer the approach to have a WebSite that describes the WebRing, and will attempt to make advertising - say

"I am the RingMaster of the ..... WebRing.
"I was surfing our webring this evening to verify that all the websites were linked up, and in so doing, I came across a link to your astoundingly well informed website.
"The Web Ring is an inter-connected list of sites related to ...... Each site displays a navigation code which is used to move between sites. The ring contains both personal and commercial sites, and anyone with a site related to ..... is welcome to join."

or something like that!
