That's pretty much what I've done -- adopted out the active rings I don't care for anymore, deleted the rings with only a few memberships, and dividing up the rest between multiple IDs. I've also changed the homepages for my WEBrings so that they display the alternate code, and link to join the Webringo ring instead of the Webring (not in a sneaky manner though, I've placed a note on each page). The owner of one of the rings I'm a member of sent us all an email saying that he was deleting it and creating a new one at RingSurf. The day after he deleted it, it was back up and running again! I don't think he knows about it.http://s.webring.com/hub?ring=opossumsallysri1 She may know about it -- she definately knows about Webring ressurecting deleted rings. I believe she's moved the rest of her rings to http://www.webringworld.org/ Siobhan

Webring have blocked users from changing their ring logos. I tried changing it remains the same logo. Wonder what will they block next.

What will happen if members did not select any plan when the date reaches January? Are they going to send in the bills to members?

You know what...? Webing have been censoring messages as soon someone put up negative messages. But those online dating ones are left alone....

I tried changing the logo of one of my rings just a little while ago. It changed...eventually. It only took like 3 days *rolls eyes*

They'll probably just default those members to the free one. I can't manage them trying to get money from those people. First of all, they have no reason to pay since they didn't asked to be signed up as paid members and secondly, since WebRing probably doesn't have any financial information on them, they can't automatically deduct a credit card or anything. Blood from a stone, my friends.

Since the online dating spam is still there, it makes you wonder if they own that site too.

I think they started banning or removing all negative users there. Suddenly all of them are quiet.

I'd even wonder if they are bothering to moderate at all anymore, but would I really risk losing my current webrings and memberships if I were to start posting there and then be banned!

I feel the same way. It sorta makes you wonder, is this how they want to remembered? Because they couldn't take any criticism, they threatened their members into submission. Dictatorship, anyone?

Considered my rings lost. I have trashed them so that they won't fall into the wrong hands. If I can't own my own rings, no one owns it.

I'm another fugative from Webring. >:(
I sent members of my 2 rings, totalling about 150 sites, that we were moving out and setting up shop here. So far about 5 sites have been activated and 5 more are pending installation of the nav bar code.
What was suggested to me off the Webring forum is that any major movement will get a flag. So if the intention is to delete a ring, first get the site moved elsewhere, then have them delete the webring nav bar code. That fails the site with thesystem checker. Wait a couple of days then suspend the site, wait 2 more than delete the site. Only delete sites out of existing rings by 1-2 a week or every 2 weeks. Yes, it will be a slow process but that assures that the sites are off webring and no "jump ship" flags pop up to an administrator.
They can and will revoke manager status from anyone and they will restore deleted rings that are removed wholesale so you need to do it under the radar. They are expecting (from their own words) some loss but they believe that is acceptable. The trick then becomes playin by their own rules.
My own sites in my rings will be the last to go. In the meantime I am working clsoely with my ring members during the transition.
And... as to censorship of their forum. Nothing new. In fact I'd not be surprised if some of them are reading this forum to see what we are up to. :P

You might want to tell 'em if they can just hold off for a couple more days then they probably won't have to do any code changes on their end.
