Okay, we've added a "Join This Ring" link to the ring's page.   Great suggestion.

Can admin amend the title on the attach screen to the ring title instead? If the ring is example DRAMA WEBRING but the userid is eggcoin, then the attached page will show eggcoin instead of DRAMA WEBRING.

Hmmm, unless I'm misunderstanding you, that's the way it is now. (??)   In the example you showed the ring ID is "asiancook" and the ring title is "The Asian Cooking Ring". It shows "Join the asiancook webring", so it is showing the ring ID.

Or did you mean the other way around- have it show "Join the Asian Cooking Ring" instead of "Join the asiancook webring"?

OK, in the sci-fi/fantasy, the ringmaster uses the id= fantasy so at the joining page shows Fantasy. But if he uses another id it will show id instead of the name of the ring.

Is it possible to implement an option to change user id? I hate to remove the whole ring and start again with another id.  ???

What is the maximum dimension I could have for the webring logo? My current size is 150x150 but I notice others could have a longer logo.

So you want it to show the name of the ring (the title) instead of the ID, is that correct?

Probably when the system is switched over to the database-driven version we can implement that, but at this time I don't think that's feasible. The system writes a lot of files when you make a ring, so we'd have to script something that would recursively search and replace each instance over a number of directories and files. Plus it would break any existing rings that are out there using that ID.

Yes, I think we can do that. Let us have a look and see what to tweak.

It's not a problem, we're actively seeking ideas, suggestions, and comments. We'll implement as many of them as we can.

There's no actual limit set at this time. I think 150px square is probably a reasonable max to use as a default, but you can also edit the code on your pages to make it whatever size you like.

Okay, this has been added. This was, to put it frankly, a real *&$^! to do, lol. But it's done. Thanks for the suggestion- it does make the site list page much better.

Yes. That would be my preference. But I am not sure about other members.

We'll have a look and see if this can be done. The link only passes the name of the ringid, so this may not be something simple to do. If that's the case it may need to wait until the conversion to a database-driven system is complete (then it would be easy to do).

Well, you might want to start mentioning your rings and promoting them wherever you can. Mentioning them on the Webring message board may also help drive people who are dissatisfied with Webring's new "paid format" to your new rings.

We expect a gradual start with more and more traffic and attention as time goes by. It takes a while for new sites to work their way into Google and Yahoo (and other search engines too). We're also planning on doing some casual promotion of the site, but having ring owners like yourself spread the word makes a huge difference.

I don't know how that might go over with webring support (not sure whether or not the reports of them deleting posts or not are true, as I haven't had any of mine deleted), but I've been sending out e-mails to all of the members of my various rings notifying them that there are alternative systems to webring, though I haven't gotten any direct responses yet.
